and gladly so.
i had all sorts of plans to blog through december and share my growing santa collection and my mini christmas trees and some favorite holiday recipes and all that jazz, but then my trusty macbook of seven years bit the dust and then we moved to texas and then it was christmas and then it was new years and then i had a brand new baby niece born and i just never wanted to put her down. but then i got a new macbook and so here i am, back at it, ya'll (is it cool if i say ya'll because i'm in texas now?)
this was ava's second christmas and it was pretty great. she was just as excited over the $.99 beaded necklaces from the party aisle at walmart as she was for the mini nursery santa brought her for her fancy baby doll via france my mom ordered. she thought unwrapping presents was cool. and she was/is really digging her pink car, which we've taken for a spin around the neighborhood a time or two. she is all sorts of fun and sass and sweetness all balled up into a 22lb. tiny model human who i adore with every piece of me.
the best part of this christmas was seeing her interact with her cousins. that is part of the reason we made the move out here and left our beloved california in the rearview mirror; so our kid(s) can grow up with a huge support system of people who love them. ava thinks her cousins are about the best little people ever and most of the time she just stares at them with wonder in her eyes.
so that's my update. sorry i missed the most wonderful time of the year. can we still be friends? do you get how heartbroken i was when i got the news that the motherboard on my macbook was dead? it was like losing a finger. i lost a lot of sleep over it. (but this here new macbook is pretty swell, if i do say so myself.)
and just in case you missed me a whole lot and want to know what exactly my christmas was like, here's a little video for ya (ya'll? too much?)
