i mean, i don't want to brag or anything, but i did win best hair in high school, so maybe i know a thing or two about hair care. actually, in real life, i don't know very much about hair care other than baby powder hides dirty roots and heat is apparently bad for it. but i am learning! thankfully i've been blessed with a naturally healthy head of hair, but i do notice that when i use quality products, my hair looks and feels better.
shimmer lights shampoo - this is probably a staple for just about any blonde and i love it. i use it at least every other wash and leave it in for a couple minutes before rinsing. because it is purple, it balances out any brassy/yellow tones in my blonde and helps me stay bright and white.
sebastian shampoo and conditioner - okay okay confession: i used to use whatever i found down the aisles at target, but a friend recently encouraged me to try this and i am so glad i did. my hair has soaked it up and is so much silkier.
bumble and bumble all style blow dry - this little gem came in my monthly ipsy bag and i love it! i try to only blow dry my hair about once a week, but i always use a dime-sized amount of this stuff and i love how it protects my hair from heat and keeps my ends nice and moisturized.
wet brush - i meant to buy this for my sister for christmas because she is infamous for having a super sensitive head, but then i decided to keep it for myself...oops. i love this brush! the bristles are super bendy and soft, so it never tugs at your head. it somehow just gently works through tangles and doesn't cause any damage.
other tips and tricks:
let your hair air-dry! after i shower, i always let my hair air dry while i do my makeup. that way by the time i'm done and ready to blow-dry, it's partially dry and will be better protected against heat damage.
brush before bed and the shower! i always run a brush through my hair before bed and before the shower to get out the tangles of the day.
let your curls cool! my hair holds curl pretty well, but i think that one of the reasons is because i let my curls completely cool before i brush/shake them out. i use a 1 1/4 inch curling iron and take about 2 inch pieces of hair and wrap it around the curling iron, holding for a couple seconds. i immediately spray them with a little hair spray and hold them for a second or two and then leave them alone. i finish my whole head and then when i know every curl is cool, then i brush it out.
baby powder! this probably only works for blondes, but really i don't know what life was like before it. i shake a little baby powder in my hair any day i don't wash it and it immediately hides any sign of grease.
don't over bleach! i love being bright blonde, but i love having healthy hair more. i always let at least 3 months go by before i get my hair re-highlighted. bleach is hard on your hair, let it heal!
headbands! beanies! hats! for those days when it's just not working. it happens. life goes on.
