the weather in texas is unbelievable this week! after being iced in for two days, it is snowing buckets and buckets. get us back to the california coast pronto, okay??
ava's second frozen-esque party
ava and her cousin baylee are only three days apart, so we decided to have a little birthday party for both girls. we chose to have a frozen themed party, but i didn't want it to be disney-cheesy...i wanted it to be pretty and classy while still being fun and kid-friendly.
i chose to focus my color palette less on the pastels/blues of the typical frozen party and more on the teals and magentas. i loved those "family forever" frozen napkins i found at target and thought they were pretty perfect for this family affair. we put together some fresh flowers and i made my favorite cake recipe and it was a really fun, laid back day spent celebrating these two cute girls.
thank you to everyone who came and made our day special!
and thank you to miss ava girl for being born to me and making me a momma. i love you to the moon and back, baby girl.
child labor
ava turned two last week and it seems like ever since her birthday, she's been really embracing the "terrible twos" mantra. we picked her up from nursery (a church class where she plays with other 2-3 year olds) and the nursery leader said "she sure does have a lot of energy. these three year olds got nothing on her!" and i don't think truer words have ever been spoken. she is spunky and opinionated and strong-willed. it's my prayer that she channels these leadership qualities for good and that she grows up to be the kind of person who fearlessly speaks up for the bullied and sets an example of integrity and honesty and light for her peers.
we are working on doing little chores and i always melt when she is eager to be helpful. she is really good at putting away her toys and today when she got into the pantry and started to "sweep" with the broom, i thought i'd put her to work and let her swiffer the floor. entertaining the toddler and giving the floor a little pick-me-up all in one.
nothin' wrong with a little child labor, ya'll.
