hi friends!!! it's been a while, no?? sorry for the absence, but getting a house ready for occupancy is kind of a consuming task. we have basically had to purchase an entire house full of furniture and putting it all together has taken over my life. but i am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel now and it seems like the final touches are finally coming together.
i have always been a big halloween fan but when ava was born an october baby, i think my love for halloween really grew. i love this holiday and i think i've created a little monster because she is obsessed with pumpkins. obsessed. she is also obsessed with the nightmare before christmas movie, which she calls pumpkin, but pumpkin sounds a lot like cupcake in her language, so it took us a little while to figure out what the heck she was whining for. so david is probably really tired of listening to nightmare before christmas over and over in the car, but i am digging it. tis the season for skeletons and spooks, ya'll!
i wanted my halloween decor to be a little bit sophisticated and a little bit glam and per usual, i wanted to keep it cheap. i bought the spiderweb garlands in the dollar section of target and bought all my pumpkins at homegoods for less than $10 each. the spooky black tree is another target purchase and it lights up on the ends and ava thinks that is really fun. (i am still looking for the perfect something to go over the fireplace mantel, so don't mind the empty space. we actually have a frozen poster up there as i am writing this because we love to build snowmen, duh!) the skull votives, "til death do us part" frame, skull-in-a-jar and potion bottles are all from homegoods and i picked up the happy halloween banner at target in the scrapbooking section. (have you been down that aisle lately? sometimes i overlook it and it's really a gem.) i found my halloween door sign at tj maxxx and the bats are yet another target score (only $4!)
so i'm back guys! and i'm going to be posting more regularly, i promise. but in the mean time, go out and enjoy this time of year! it is the greatest. our community is really into halloween decorations too (we fit right in!) and the other day we drove by a house decked out like the walking dead. they had "terminus" written on the garage and a bunch of scary zombies and a bbq with a bloody foot on it. it was toooooooo good. (i kind of want to knock on their doors and ask them if they want to be our friends. too much?)
